Description
2xN PLC Splitter is an optical fiber splitter that divides two input optical signals into multiple output signals. The “2xN” configuration indicates that there are two input fibers and “N” output fibers. This splitter is used in fiber optic networks where two different input signals need to be distributed to multiple outputs
Common Configurations of 2xN PLC Splitter:
- 2×4 Splitter: Splits two input signals into four outputs (each input signal is split into 2 outputs).
- 2×8 Splitter: Splits two input signals into eight outputs (each input signal is split into 4 outputs).
- 2×16 Splitter: Splits two input signals into sixteen outputs (each input signal is split into 8 outputs).
- 2×32 Splitter: Splits two input signals into thirty-two outputs (each input signal is split into 16 outputs).
2xN PLC Splitter Applications:
- Redundant Network Paths: Often used in networks requiring redundancy, where two separate input signals are needed to ensure continuous operation in case one path fails.
- Fiber to the Home (FTTH): Used in FTTH networks to distribute optical signals to multiple homes or units from two different central offices or distribution points.
- Passive Optical Networks (PON): Suitable for GPON, EPON, or BPON systems where signals from two central offices are distributed to multiple endpoints.
- Telecommunications: Utilized in telecom networks for distributing signals across multiple locations, ensuring robust and redundant connections.
- Data Centers: Helps manage and distribute optical signals from different sources to various network devices within a data center.
Fiber Optic splitter is also called optical splitter,is one of the most important passive devices in optical fiber link,is with multiple inputs and multiple output end of the optical fiber connected devices. The fiber optic splitter by the light spligtting principle can be divided into the fused biconical taper(FBT) and planar wavegulde type(PLC).
